Mixing Hemcrete

Stoners rejoice at the prospect of a hemp-tropolis – Sky rises flying higher than the people who build them – a greener future, one brick at a time!

UK Based Company LHoist has developed a CARBON-NEGATIVE Type of Concrete, Carbon Negative means it actually REMOVES carbon from the atmosphere during production – how you ask? HEMP OF COURSE!

Hemcrete – Hemp based concrete made of hemp, water, and lime binder. When the hemp grows, it removes carbon from the atmosphere sequestering it inside its structure, all the while releasing clean oxygen into the air. Although the lime-binder may still have a carbon footprint, when combined with the highly anti-carbon properties of hemp the overall footprint continues to be carbon-negative.

Ah again, hemp to the rescue – considering it only takes 14 weeks to grow a fully matured crop, it’s no wonder this material has been used for THOUSANDS OF YEARS aiding humanity, and could continue to shepherd us into the new age; should it be given the chance – hemp is still largely illegal in the US.

Sacrifice for strength? NOPE – Hemcrete is claimed to be many times stronger than Concrete, although I have a hard time believing a cellulose based aggregate could be stronger than stone based aggregate – it sure sounds nice!

Few other pros: Hemcrete can be used for wall insulation, flooring, roofing, is fire-proof, water-proof, and rot-proof. Also can be used to preserve wooden structures because of its humidity controlling ability, it actually keeps wood drier.

AND WHEN ITS TIME HAS PASSED it can be demolished and spread out over soil to break down as fertilizer…
All I gotta say, HEMP HOOKS IT UP!
